In other to increase healthcare services especially to those who may not have access to it, the Bernard Otubo International Foundation (BOIF) carried out their routine outreach; providing health screening, medical dispensation, and professional consultation to local communities.

As much villagers as possible gathered at the location, for basic checkups and vital measurements like blood pressure, blood sugar, and body mass index. With each person, the medical team were on the look out for common conditions and sicknesses like malaria, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV, and tuberculosis. This selfless act of service by the organization, is to make sure that the people understand the importance of seeking medical care.

Health care workers sensitized the people on healthy habits, and how to prevent, identify, and manage common diseases. Some were taken with a pinch of salt, but they did not hesitate to emphasize the need for good hygiene, and healthy practices.

Focus torch was pointed at the elderly for common conditions like arthritis, hypertension, and blood sugar. They were educated on the need to remain healthy by eating right, and exercising; for as much as little walks would make a difference.

The women and children were not left out of the chart, especially pregnant and nursing mothers. The need for direct hospital care for prenatal and post natal care services, that also included talks on family planning, and screenings for conditions like cervical cancer were overemphasized. Encouraging the women also on the need to start, continue, and complete essential vaccinations and immunizations for their children, so as to protect them from dangerous diseases.

Pharmaceutical products were also dispersed for unproblematic conditions like headaches, body pain, and minor infections. However, individuals with conditions that required more complex or specialized care beyond the scope of the outreach, were referred to nearby hospitals or clinics for follow-up treatment.

Altogether, it was truly an eventful program for the people of that community. The day ending with the philanthropist, Mr. Bernard Obinna Otubo, thanking the health workers for their dedication, which saw to a successful medical outreach, and to the people of the community too, for not shying away from the health care services.
