RECOGNITION OF MERIT

 / November 22,2025

For actively showing up for his people by upholding peace, unity, and development of his community through admirable discipline, integrity, and philanthropy, Chief Bernard Obinna Otubo was bestowed an honorary chieftaincy title as Enyanwu Lawaru Oha 1 of Okposhi Eshi Ngbo on the 28th of June 2025. Families, Friends from far and wide, custodians, and the community at large was present to witness this huge celebration.

Amongst the many awards received with gratitude by the recipient over the years, this particular honorary title is dear to his heart, and a stimulant for greater and better impact for humanity.

In his words “I feel happy, and for whatever they saw in me that earned me this award, I feel challenged to do more and more for my people.”

The NTA news correspondent Innocent Agbom also interviewed some friends, families, and members of the community, on their opinion concerning the ceremony.

“Today marks a hallmark of it, that he is honored in his own village, it shows that he is a man of the grassroot” Mr Patrick Eze said.

The event lasted for hours with more villagers trooping in to celebrate with him.

“I am here and witnessed what happened, and I give God the glory” Comrade Jonah Egba commented.

Coincidentally, it became a double celebration with Chief Bernard Obinna Otubo cutting his birthday cake with everyone, to mark yet another year of health, joy, and fulfillment. People took turns to leave a few lines of words about their relationship, experience, and the personality of the celebrant Chief.

Beautiful moments were captured on photograph; the women dancing, the male youths singing and gyrating with the Chief, and friends and well wishers taking photos of memory with the celebrant.

After hours and hours of merriment, eating and dining with his people, the long day had to come to an end with the Chief giving his vote of thanks, the elders blessing him, and his people biding their farewells.
