The need to assist students from his community, as literal as the old saying “Charity begins at home”, was not just about charity, but of the desire to push for further education of the youths beyond secondary school level.

Quite a number of them where interested in working towards a brighter future, but most of them were financially unable to kickstart the journey. And so even amidst the COVID Scare in the year 2020, BOIF launched bursary awards to support the students of Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
The picture above is the day of the selection process to determined qualified students for the non-repayable grants. This eligibility was determined through financial accessment of the applicants and their family situation to ascertain youths best deserving of the aid.

The purpose of this funds disbursement is to provide an opportunity for young people from less privileged backgrounds to pursue higher educational goals and improve their life prospects. It was a huge project that carried the heart along, taking up about N1.5m in cash and logistics for the bursary Award.

After the final selection process, the youths are guarded towards their university registration, and placed on mentorship to guarantee that their tuition, course materials, and other educational expenses is not put to waste. Since 2020 till date, more financial aids have been awarded to more youths, and several beneficiaries of this project has graduated or are at the tail end of their university program.
